New Amp Suggestions

Post by John Harmon »

Morning all, little background. Have 2 steels I enjoy an SX 8 string and a Remington D8, most playing is practice and a jam session once a week. I now use a Fender Acoustasonic 40 and it does ok. If I turn it up, but when I do it makes a bit of noise(rainfall sound). I would like a new amp, 50-60 watts, and stay around $400 or less if possible. I do like Sweetwater to work with so that would be a plus. Just want something that sounds good with my steels, any suggestions? And thanks ahead of time. John

With SweetWater I would recommend Fender Tonemaster.
There are many others but not with financing.
I am sure others will chime in with more suggestions.

Thanks Ken will look at that. Anyone ever tried a Laney? They have interesting one but slightly over budget. John

Hey John, if your budget is under $400.00, consider the Fender Champion 40. Light weight, multiple effects, gets plenty loud. I replaced the Chinese speaker with a Jensen, sounds great for rehearsals and low volume gigs. Available from Amazon.
Retired my "Flying Pro III" playin' gigs with the "little bud" in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Check this one out as it gets good reviews:

There is also a 50W version for a few dollars less.
