Greetings
Fell into a little beauty locally - a (Rick) Ace lap steel. Really great working order, a couple vintage steels (incl. Manoloff Bakelite) in the pocket…
Pocket of the cardboard case that is crumbling. I’d like to house it in a padded case of sorts. Attached is a pic from an old sale, stating it’s in a ‘ProTec’ case. Can anyone suggest or point to sources for something like this? Thanks
(This is NOT my Ace, just the example of an Ace in the case)

Depending on the total length of the instrument, you might be able to use a shotgun case. Just cut holes in the existing egg-carton padding, or replace it with high density foam rubber.
I'd agree with Eric that a viola case would probably work well for you. I'd check the dimensions of the case before buying one. In the original post the case shown appears to be a viola case with the neck support removed, but I couldn't find an exact match on the Protec site, Sweetwater or Amazon.

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions. Another example of how helpful this community can be.
I actually had some ‘dumb luck’ when I found a forgotten ‘Mainland’ tenor uke in a closet, in a stiff sided, padded style case. Popped out the neck support and the Ace fit toot sweet. Bag made by ‘Max.’ My guess is it’s a viola bag.
I’ll hang the uke on the wall
