ShoBud compactra 100 custom amplifier.

Post by Matthew Weller »

Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a good evening. I bought this shobud in 1998.the understanding I have is that jim Evans built around 40 of these amps. This amp is 100 Watts has a 15 inch JBL speaker in it. It is very powerful and has a standel 25l15 like tone to it. As I have noticed with every shobud amp I have seen pictures of, the chassis is mounted with the tubes pointing upward. Mine however are pointing downward. And the engraving is upside down as well. Is there anyone that can give me more information on this amp. I know these amps are legendary. I have been trying to find out about this amp for 27 years, they're just isn't much information out there. Originally I bought this amp at a music store in Saratoga springs New York in 1998. I believe this amp was made in the late sixties and originally when new was sold by Bondz music store in South glens falls New York. Bondz did have a music store in Wildwood Florida, but it is now permanently closed. I am looking forward to a reply from anyone that has any information on this amplifier of mine. It is serial number 4065. Reverb has one for sale serial number 4047 but does not remotely look like mine. As you are looking at it from the front the shoBud badge is on the lower left corner. The amp is still sporting it's original black tolex covering in very good shape.
