Zum Tuning Nuts

Post by Shannon Farmer »

I've got an '84 ZUM D10 that I'm in the process of doing a mini refurb on. Can someone tell me what size nylon tuning nuts I need? I'm not worried about the length, just the female end that connects to the rod. Hoping there was a standard size for Zums. I see several sizes at PSGparts.com

Barry Coker is right.
1/8" - 6-40 Zum and My old MSA Classics
Some people thread 1/8" 5-40 leaves a lump where the threads meet the smooth rod. Shade tree mechanics, You may find some 6-32 thread for added on rods.

7/64 - 5-40 Emmons

3/32 - 4-40 GFI and many other guitar.

The good thing about having 1/8" rods 6-40 rods, Get a #33 drill bit. Any size hole tuning nut can be drilled out and fit your Zum.

Drilling out smaller hole tuning nuts, Was a trick I learned when I gigged an MSA Classic and could not find proper tuning nuts in a, Gota have it now situation.
