Alas, nowhere near enough to me!
I did see Vishwa Mohan Bhatt in Lawrence KS years ago (before I was even into steel guitar).
And his chaturangui is WELL north of six strings! I think it is something like 24? Most of them are not played with the bar...the taraf or sympathetics just ring out from vibration and the jawari bridge, the chikari (sometimes called drone strings) are tuned to usually the root and sometimes 5th or 4th of the raag and are played directly, but not barred.

Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling
I hear the rolling surf calling
Calling and calling to me

Calling and calling to me

The NC show was actually an unexpected one off. He got a last minute offer to do a well-compensated private event in the morning, so we scrambled to book him for a public performance somewhere close by the same evening. Found a beautiful sort of boutique studio in Durham. Sold out, too.David Mason wrote:Colorado -> North Carolina -> California(?)

I hope he's gettin' paid by the note....
There are a few more new dates that have been added to the last weeks of the tour before he hits Detroit.
Nov 7 Colorado Springs
Nov 8 Colorado Springs
Nov 10 Scotts Valley, CA
Nov 15, Detroit

He's got a new record coming out in a few months, so he'll be back in the US in the Spring. This time his son is coming along--he's turning out to be a badass, too.
