My Take On Poinciana......

Post by Bill Hatcher »

saw and enjoyed a couple of recordings here of this song and i decided to take a crack at it on my lap steel with many strings. a drum loop...a track of electric bass. some improv with single strings and then some chords. i always liked this tune. saw ahmad jamal play it and did some concerts with the four freshmen who had a hit with it. nice tune.

Wow :whoa: fantastic stuff going on there.
Don't know how you are able to keep unwanted strings muted with all that going on.
That's brilliant Bill.
I'd love to be able to half of what you're doing there. :D

Bill, that was fantastic! So many textures .... I love the quotes - very Paul Desmondish. :)

That's an interesting approach to the steel!
It reminds me of an Eharp but played by someone who really has it figured out.
