passive volume pedal

I had a cheapo passive vol pedal, but it wouldn't go nearly to full volume.
So I bought a Goodrich active one, and it works fine, but it requires power to it.
If possible I'd like to have a passive pedal that didn't require external power, and basically just started at full blast pickup output, and went all the way to silent.
I mostly play at home, and live in a tiny house. I'd like to minimize the tangles of snakes that go with powered equipment.
Any suggestions?

Don't know what pedal you have, but string type and gear type both have a little room for adjustment either way. I usually set mine up with full volume.

Goodrich makes really great passive ones, too. As do others. I know when I try to use my 6 string guitar volume pedals on steel, it's not the best, but there are plenty of good passive options for steel. I only have experience with the Goodrich L-120 and H-120, which behave basically the same.

Did you buy the VP new and know its history?
Does the pedal have a 500 K pot?

If the VP uses a string to rotate the pot, If someone had a problem with the pulley that the strings winds on, And replaced it with a slightly larger pulley could be the problem. It may not rotate the pot proper degrees of rotation. For very low volume with back of pedal down, To full volume when front is shoved down.

If it worked proper and then had this volume problem, The string may have slipped on the pulley.

Dont the new model active Goodrich pedals also do passive? I'm sure I saw that in their advertising - was a great idea eg. For a flexible signal chain options or if pedal goes dead on batteries.
