YouTube Rant
Anyone experience the new looooonger and more frequent commercials on YouTube ?. Jeez this is annoying. I had to listen to the same woman politician (guess) beg for money multiple times yesterday. What a waste of my time and electricity. I've tried AdBlocker with not much success so I signed up for two free months of ad free service. Wow this brings me back to the good ole days! Only $13.99 for the third month. Death by a thousand papercuts. I'll hold my breath and see how this shakes out. I don't have a TV or movie services etc. like millions so YouTube, Internet news services and talk radio are my sources of information or misinformation. That's why I'm annoyed. First world problems I guess. What a blatant cash grab!

That's the way of life on YouTube since Google bought it. Google's main purpose in life is to get as many ads as they can in front as many people as they can for as long as they can. The other stuff they do like Chrome, Maps, etc is just window dressing and vehicles to get their ads in your face.

Re: YouTube Rant
In my work, outside of music, I study these things thoroughly, not because it annoys me, but because of what it means.
YouTube and all of big tech are facing serious headwinds. They are doing everything under the sun to maintain their unsustainable profit margins and paint continuous earnings growth.
YouTube's answer so far has been to try every method possible to adjust their ad display paradigm so as not run off their advertisers and keep their diminishing supply of advertisers coming.
You can easily notice the absence of Fortune 500 advertisers placing ads with YouTube. This is because YouTube ads are ineffective for the parties who place them.
YouTube is willing to punish its users to maintain the illusion of continuous growth. Eventually they will have to face the music.

Thanks Edward for that tip. I use Firefox, so I went to Firefox and they had it listed as a recommended app. I downloaded it and it works great.....all adds on YouTube were gone!"I use uBlock Origin in a chrome browser and get zero ads on YouTube".
It even worked on their "watch movies free with adds" I watched G.I Blues this morning and not even one add showed up.....love it.....and it is FREE.

Ad blockers and other market forces such as the aforementioned fact that ads don’t work are probably hastening the day YouTube will be subscription only. Then will come the ISP packages offering “free” YouTube + Netflix + 24Hour Blabbermouth + X + Y + Z…. The best we can hope for is to get some competition in the ISP business.
