Since there does not seem to be a clip on tuner with a clip large enough to handle a thick lap steel, I came up with this, and it works fine.
I just mounted a wooden shim to the headstock using rubber bands, and clipped the tuner to the shim.
Perhaps one of you guys who are better at building can come up with a more elegant solution which uses the same concept?

That's a great, simple solution. Will be scrounging thru my box of scraps for a shim.

I came up with 2 solutions with my dual Rogue lap steels (A6 & C6). I built a dual stand/table for them.
The tuner just clips to the stand/table and works great.
The other solution is not elegant.
I just screwed a piece of scrap wood to the end of my 26" stretched baritone Rogue lap steel. At least I painted the wood before attaching it

Dave, I think you nailed it! The orange rubber bands look spot on with the natural finish on the maple! Good choice.
I see you got the new rechargeable tuner on, how do you like it?
Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40

I like it. I have to get used to flat being on the right of center and sharp being left of center.
