Can't Auto-Log Into Forum - Solution

Post by Douglas Schuch »

I, like a number of other members, have had problems with my computer remembering my log-in for the forum, remembering which posts I've viewed or not, etc. More recently I've had major problems with Facebook Chat, which is how I keep up with almost everyone I know - mostly with links that won't open, or some other random link opening instead of what I wanted. I've gone to the Google Prvacy page and tried to adjust the settings to resolve these issues with no luck. So recently I began testing MS Edge to see if it works better, and I can now report that IT DOES!

It's not the browser itself, I think, but the parent company privacy settings as Edge actually runs the Google Chrome browser engine. But for whatever reason, it seems to be working. You can import your bookmarks, and Chrome extensions will work (not sure if you can import them, but I only have a couple anyway). You may want to give it a try.

Thanks, Douglas. I had the same problem. I have also been randomly logged off of the forum from time to time. Maybe this will help.

Several times recently, I have logged in, clicked on the "View posts since your last visit" link, and been logged off by the system. It happened again this morning. I was able to log back in, but received the "No posts since your last login" message. I had to "View past 24 hours" in order to read posts. I was on a laptop PC with using Chrome and Windows 10.

Jim, I've also had that happen in the past with Chrome. Knock on wood, so far Edge has worked without a hitch. YMMV.

Douglas,

Firefox is my default browser but I also have Chrome and Edge installed. The few times Firefox acts weird or I think Firefox has an issue one of the other browsers will normally get me through the rough patch. Mozilla is the developer for Firefox and they seem to be able to quickly identify and resolve issues as they arise.

It's a shame there is a need for three browsers on a computer.
