Tuning Keys

I see many offerings for tuning keys and priced quite low. They are looked down upon because of the quality. Are there better ones that won't break the bank? I'm building a 6 string pedal a bit at a time.
A fine instrument is like a lady. Treat it nice and it will make lovely music.

Tuning keys are no place to save money. There are only six of them. Buy the best that will fit.

I've used Kluson MS33C/MG33C Tuners with great success in my last (non pedal) builds and am planning to use them in my current pedal steel build, I have not had any problems with them so far, they go for 30€ per set on Thomann EU, the 10€ price difference compared to the cheaper alternatives is absolutely worth it!

Most cheaper priced keys have a low mechanical ratio. Like a 1X8, or 1X10 ratio. Higher priced keys usually have a higher ratio like 1X14 and some 1X18. The higher ratio of gearing is better for quicker more accurate tuning on Steel and pedal steel guitars.
