Till I Get It Right - Steel Instrumental

Post by Rick Campbell »

Snow and cold weather in East Tennessee. Here's one of my favorite Tammy Wynette songs done as a steel guitar instrumental, with a lot of fiddle fills. Done in my home studio. Steel is recorded direct through Quilter Superblock.

One of my very favorite songs to play at steel shows.

You knocked it out of the park.
AUTHORIZED PEAVEY, George L's, Goodrich dealer. I have 2 steels and several amps. My current rig of choice is 1993 Emmons LeGrande w/ 108 pups (Jack Strayhorn built for me), Goodrich OMNI Volume Pedal, George L's cables and Peavey Nashville-Session 112 or 115.

Bill,

I didn’t know anyone played that song as an instrumental. I just knew it was a good song and I decided to play it for a video. I’d really like to hear you, and other pro quality players, play it…. Or maybe I wouldn’t now that I’ve butchered it up. :D

Rick,
Drop me an email and I will send you my humble attempt at this song.

My recording is from the ISGC in 2014.
I was definitely outclassed on stage.

Leon Rhodes & Dino Strunk on guitar
Roy Rosetta on Piano
Ric Boyer on Bass
LT Zinn on Rhythm
Paul Polish on Drums.

Whew.

I've heard you play, I wouldn't say you were outclassed in that group.

Nice job on that song Rick!!

Texas based Junior Knight did a nice version of Till I Get It Right on an album he released in 2012, Knight Trax.

I tried to find a link on the album for you, but couldn't find one to that album. I got a copy from Junior. He is on Facebook, and I think he's scheduled to be at the Texas Steel Guitar Association Jamboree in March 2024.

Best to you!
