Always loved his tone. Not sure how to describe it,but it's pure pedal steel to me.

Wow thanks so much Danny as I blush. I love that whole LIVE in London album we did; just old school 4-piece. Me and Dale played through black Face Fender Twins; Billy Dee on Bass and Scott Mathews on Drums. Johnny Bush many years ago; said that was his favorite LIVE ALBUM he has heard. Dale played his Tomkins Guitar; I played my D-10 1975 Pro-II and my "SSHAWAIIAN" on "In the Jailhouse Now". Thanks Joe; yes just Sho~bud Straight into Fender Twin; just like my mentor Lloyd Green.
Here's the whole album my treat:

Yes sir, 1st rate stuff. That's why it's in my collection of Dale Watson music. Hard to beat that tone and playing. Cudos to Ricky for his wonderful technique and talent.

Thanks so much Larry for the kind words. It reminded me of some SAVED kind words Lloyd Green wrote me after he heard "Help me Merle I'm Breaking out in a Nashville Rash" on that live album and said:
The famous Lloyd Green just heard this solo that I played and then the twin part me and Dale played together on this song Dale Watson wrote on the live in London album.
Lloyd then emailed me this:

"Damn Ricky!
I don’t know that I had ever heard the live recording of you and Dale Watson with the song, “Help Me Merle”.
That is some absolutely cool E9th playing.
Dale and you should still be together. You were on fire, man.
Nobody could have done that better. Perhaps nobody could have played it as good as you did!
Really impressive my friend.
Love ya,
Lloyd"

Wow I'm speechless. Here's the song below.

You can see me actually play this solo from a live show in Holland. Here>

My brother and I went to see Dale and Ricky when they were at Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta a good while back. Those two guys were made for each other. No need to comment on Ricky’s tone and playing, you know what it was!

Thanks Roger; I almost remember that, as it was the only time I've been to Atlanta.
Well Dirk; It is safe to see and hear me now, as it took me 30 years of touring to finally calm down..ah...ha..

Ricky, you guys had a trombone in the band. I wasn’t sure how that was gonna work, but it fit in great.

Roger; me and Dale were huge western and old pop swing music and we cut a whole album of All Swing; songs Dale wrote and many others; even two Frank Sinatra songs:
"I left her in old Monterrey" and "Dance All Night".
At that time, we just added our friend Jon Blondell to the show ...and here's the whole album for you pleasure> (oh I played every song on C6 neck except one; can you guess which one that is???..ha...)

That's too cool. Thanks for posting this Ricky. Love the C6. I never spent the time on my back neck even though the tone is my favorite.
