Console for George Boards

I have a beautiful blue 8 string non pedal steel from georgeboards that I would like to get a console for. it doesn't have drillings for legs so Im looking for another option. what do people use for this? thanks!

Bill Asher now makes the Deluxe 34 stands. They are GREAT! A bit expensive, but if you have several steels it's easy to justify

If you or anyone near you is tools friendly it takes a 1.25 Forstner drill bit, and about a 3/4" deep hole from it.
It is a fairly simple operation I've done dozens of times , literally on a folded Towel on my kitchen table with all of the finish already on the instrument.

The Legs and sockets can be purchased from Gary Sill Music, - he is a regular on this forum.

Glad to help with more instructions. Those sockets used to run around 35 dollars each, same for the legs, but I've been retired for a few years.

I am glad to do the install for you at No Cost on my part. Plus a Full tune up at no cost too.,
so long as you pay the round trip to me and have the sockets sent here too.

I just need to dig out the drill bit. We normally use 3 legs on a single neck console.

If you are not concerned about visual aesthetics a simple X Stand for keyboards works great and are super stable - easy to set up - run it the 50 dollar range from those online musicians friend type sales places and most local music stores stock them too.

I would also bring a piece of 3/4 inch wood just slightly bigger than one of the two lap steels I gigged with to make myself a poor man's double console. Throw a sarong over the piece of wood and the table and you'll be good to go aesthetically as well.

I made mine:




The top is 3/4" plywood with a second piece of 3/4" plywood to elevate the 2nd lap steel. The edges are covered with plain trim board 2.5" x 3/8" thick.

It now has regular adjustable steel legs. The wood legs were bought at Lowe's and had to be trimmed a bit to get the correct height.

The switch box is just a electronics project box with a Les Paul 3-way switch & some salvages guitar cord ends.

The guitars are held in place with 1/4"-20 EZ-Lock inserts in the bottom of the guitars and screws from underneath.
