This is a 60-second Short of Pipeline on pedal steel. I've been playing this tune with the band for the past couple of years. It lays out nicely on E9, if you don't mind playing the first part of the melody on open strings. Very minimal pedal/lever use on this one. Just pedals A&B and the lever that lowers string 2 a half step.

Thanks Joe, it brings back a lot of memories for me too. One of the many instrumentals we heard on the radio every day back in the 60's.

Nice, well done. I remember that song from way back when, played it in my rock band...

Hi Doug, thanks... This was circa 1964 or 65. I am on the far right, import Japanese guitar. We played for high school dances in several small town schools in our area of upstate NY.

Cool. It has that early 60s look: clean cut, suits and ties. By the late 60s the look was quite different.

You never cease to amaze me. One of my favorites that I forgot about over the years. Now you are inspiring me to try to play it on pedal steel.....

I never thought this tune would work well on pedal steel. I tried it a couple of times years ago and gave up on it. Then I realized that the first part of the melody is sitting right there on strings 10, 9, 8, 7, no pedals or levers needed.
