I recently just got a push pull and am trying to learn about the setup. I already understand how to tune it. But I was digging around underneath and notice that the raises don't seem to take up the entire range of motion in the changer. I saw a gif of a push pull changer and it seemed like the changer moved the entire distance so it was resting against the metal when it was pressed. Attached are two photos of what I'm talking about. One has my finger touching the low B on the E9 neck with no pedals engaged. The second photo has the A pedal engaged and the changer moves about half the distance it could, leaving a gap. I placed a red circle around the gap I am talking about. Is this normal?
The raise finger doesn't contact the lower finger when raised, it contacts the body of the guitar. With the pedal engaged, you shouldn't be able to press it forward any further.
