The Hag at the Churn - C6th Tuning

Post by Andy Volk »

Here's something for a Winter's day - no, it's not Merle Haggard at a bar called the Churn - it's the traditional Irish jig tune "The Hag at the Churn."

You don't often hear traditional Irish music on electric steel it but it makes a fun modal tune to play and a nice picking hand excercise.

For jigs, the feel is 123456, 123456 over and over (or 123,123,123). Here's the midi of this arrangement: https://soundcloud.com/aev/the-hag-at-t ... -lap-steel

You can hear multiple versions of this tune on various instruments on YouTube.
