Home audio sub amp for slave cabinet?

Post by Karl Paulsen »

Anyone used something like this...

https://www.amazon.com/Nobsound-Subwoof ... 07D2X65HC/

... To power a cabinet?

Not something I'm looking at doing right now, but it's intriguing.

Not a good choice for a lot of reasons
-Its a sub amp may not give full range
-low output for 8 ohm
-no ground connection so likely to be noisy with a guitar
-it's pretty much a toy

The Jay Ganz amp is great for that sort of thing.

Great suggestion Ian. I've been considering lightening my rig, that is, use a small guitar preamp to a powered speaker.
Parts Express, "ICEpower 200ASC Class D Audio Amplifier with Power Supply Module 1 x 200W", probably weighs about a pound or so. It's amazing the iron class D replaces.
Sarno's tube preamps would be good candidates for the front end.
