Old National Thumbpicks

Post by Jay Ganz »

Which ones made today are most like the old
original white ones made in the 70's.
The newer Nationals just ain't quite the same. Besides, they tend to crack right at the "bend" after awhile. Some of the other brand thumbpicks I've tried in the past seemed to be a thinner gauge plastic.

I always used the National thumbpicks back then (small). Now I really like the Golden Gate thumbpick (small). I think they're actually superior to the old Nationals. They're heavier guaged and more comfortable for me. Billy Cooper carries them.
[This message was edited by Brint Hannay on 14 December 2006 at 10:00 AM.]

I've been using the National "NP2" for about a year. They are supposed to be a reissue of the originals. I haven't had any problems with them - in fact still using the original set I bought.

I like them better than the Showcase 1941's and they are much cheaper.

I'll second the Golden Gates. I have the ones with the thinner Herco-shaped profile at the tip. The gauge is really thick.
[This message was edited by Kyle Everson on 14 December 2006 at 12:08 PM.]

I bought a dozen Goldon Gate thumb picks about 1 1/2 years ago, still using the first one, don't think it will ever break, very comfortable, before this Picks were breaking often. Try'm u might like them.
