Kemper profiler with Steel Guitar Black Box

Post by Corbin Pratt »

Anyone ever tried this setup before?
I tried my Kemper out today with a Black Box and it sounded very good. I’m extremely impressed.

This was my casino gig rig up until just recently! I really dug it. The SGBB really helps control treble peaks regardless of pre/power amp so I almost always use it.

That really is the shortcoming with even the very best of modelers. There is nothing that can do what a real tube does, especially as an input device. No transistor, FET, opamp, etc. will behave and react like a true vacuum tube. I have a LOT of Black Box customers, both steelers and guitarists, that put a Black Box before the modeler. It's a game changer. The instrument gets that sweetening and lively feel and reactivity, and THEN the modeler gets to do what it's good at.

Modeling Amp

Post by Carl Williams »

Brad,
Not meaning to hijack the OP’s thread here but on the subject of “modeling” amps, have you received any feedback regarding using the BB with the new Fender Tonemaster Twin? Thanks, Carl

No feedback yet, but I would absolutely expect the same benefit. It's really the same principle at work.
