New 2006 and 11months Carter S10 3/5 1/2 pad

Post by David Biggers »

Hi guys I just picked up my BRAND NEW Carter steel guitar today!!!
Man it plays very smooth. Bud has changed the pedals and some of the workings and man it plays better than anything else I have ever played. Yes even better than the new MSA and Mullen I played in St Louie.
Big talk I know but man it is sweet.
Anyone else have the newer Carter

Yessir. Just took delivery of my second S-10DB about three months ago. Love what they have done to redesign the pedal bar. Received my first Carter guitar right about this time back in '04.

The pedal bar is not the U shaped channel it used it be. Most guitars use that as standard. It is now an extruded piece that has a retaining channel on the pedal side that allows the pedals and spacers to slide into the channel rather than having individual brackets for the pedals. It's really slick!

David,

I ordered this guitar June 16 of this year, it was delivered sometime in July. It is an SD-10 like James with two extra pedals.

This was the very first Carter guitar to have the new style pedal rack installed on and it works flawlessly. It is a marked improvement over what I considered an already perfect pedal steel.

I had this type of rack on another of Buds guitars years ago, if I recall correctly it was an MCI.

I copied the 5 X 5 pedal setup off of Duane Marrs guitar, but when the 3 X 5 set up is in use it is a standard E9 pedal set up.

This is my second Carter guitar, they built me a double neck a couple of years ago but I then decided a single with a pad was the better guitar for me. If money were no object I would still have the D-10.

Bud Carter is a Master builder, and John and Ann Fabian are two of the finest people I have ever dealt with.

Thanks for sharing John.Is the front apron wider, from top to bottom, than the earlier Carters? Maybe it's just the shot. Also how about a shot of the pedal rack? Bobby,

It is the same cabinet as the D-10. My guitar has the Premium edged neck, and the Bill Lawrence XR-16 pickup, they don't show up all that well in the photo.

The shot of the pedal rack shows how they have spacer, pedal, 2 spacers, pedal, 2 spacers, etc..
I am pretty sure either my MCI or my Waco guitar had this same system.

Latches are similar to the Sho~Buds. This axe is like the name implies, "World Class".

A.J.,

Yes, they are indeed smooth guitars.

the Pedal action is more positive than the initial design, my 04 is very nice, but these new ones are much more positive.

There are several fine and exceptional Steels out there, but in my opinion, the overall value of the Carters and what the Steel will do for YOU is second to none...

excellent bandstand horns...
