“Zoltan”, 60s era post-bop by Woody Shaw

Post by Mike Neer »

I got the urge to mess with a tune from one of my favorite records, Larry Young’s “Unity”. The song is called Zoltan and composed by the great Woody Shaw. I created the backing track and experimented with some harmony, but this is really just for me to practice along with to get it gig-worthy.

Do you like to hear lap steel in this context? I feel like it’s what I’ve been working towards the whole time.

I played my walnut Clinesmith on this track. I like the tighter string spacing for picking.
