LKV for MSA Classic

Post by Bill Plemmons »

I'm looking for ideas on installing a lkv on an MSA Classic. It is a mint condition 8 and 4 guitar and I want to keep it as close to original as possible. I've had a suggestion to adapt a regular knee lever to a vertical or to design and build one from scratch. If anyone has done this, your input is appreciated.

my machinist friend helped me make a verticle I was happy with. We patterned it after one I had previously had on a Mullen.....totally adjustable, which far too many builders fail to provide! (IMHO)

Hi Bill. Might try the Linkon steel suppy web site, they do have knee lever kits, not sure if I saw a vertical.... I've found many parts for my MSA there.

good luck!

Have you tried Tom Bradshaw http://www.songwriter.com/bradshaw/index.php
or Bobbe Seymour? http://steelguitar.net

I got mine from Scotties in ST Louis. It was used but it fit rite in and you could tell it was made by msa.

Don't know if he still has them, but my LKV was in an easy-to-install kit from Tom Bradshaw...Not perfect, 'cuz you have to remove a screw to put the axe back in the case, but it is a very comfortable knee, and quite adjustable.

Talk to Bobby Bowman. He installed a LKV on my 74 MSA Classic when he upgraded and rebuilt it about a year ago. It looks to be original MSA parts. http://www.bobbybowman.com/

Just for backgound, but my 1970 MSA Classic came from the factory with a LKV installed, so there are most likely the parts out there somewhere. Good luck.
