Bobby's quite the philosopher,
his take on learning steel guitar is a good example: Open your ears, Open your eyes, Close your mouth!
Barney, I'm also a long time subscriber to V.G.magazine and really enjoyed your article.
Thank you very much Garry- very kind of you to say.
Bobby plays lap steel as well as electric guitar with TAJ MAHAL's touring band, in addition to his own band in Hawaii- The Bobby Ingano Trio. ( HIGHLY recommended when you are in Honolulu! )
A few days after this issue started mailing out, Taj
was scheduled to play in Bismarck, ND a couple of days later. (VG is headquartered there.)
And get this- the VG Staff had already purchased tickets a couple of months prior.
Bobby brought them back stage after the show- here
he is with VG Founder & Publisher- Alan Greenwood.
He sure is on tour, Bill. He's with Taj Mahal and the group is blowin' the crowds away. His "Sleepwalk" a couple nights ago blew the roof off. Fans wouldn't stop applauding. If you buy Taj's 2CD set with Bobby on with him,- you'll see what I mean. They are all over the East coast. Check it out.

Great interview. Didn't Bobby work for decades (until very recently retiring?) at a fish market in Honolulu...Tamashiro Fish Market it sounds like. I always thought that was cool...just seems like a humble and down to earth guy, and what a player!
I knew he was a high G C6 player but didn't know he went with the Bb on the bottom...so a variant of C13...

I hear the rolling surf calling
