My QuadraVerb went south on me so while waiting for a replacement, I tried going straight into my Sessions 400 from my Matchbox. After a struggle in getting the right sound, I was surprized to find I (maybe) really don't need the QuadraVerb.
Is there anyone else that goes straight into a Sessions 400? What setings do you use?

I've been known to go into a Goodrich 120 then straight into my LTD 400 (same basic chassis, different box as a Session 400) straight, just a very little reverb from the amp. The exact settings depend on the room and which steel I'm using. I start the treble and presence on 12 o'clock, midrange down with the shift set wherever I can remove the "woof" - typically 9 or 10 o'clock, but that's not exact - and bass at 12 o'clock, and then set everything to the room. Usually up a little on treble, down a little on bass, but it varies some from guitar to guitar, room to room. Of course, the speaker matters - it came with a Spider Black Widow, but there's a JBL K-130 in there now. For me, the big issue is removing the "woof" without removing the "tone".

Because my axe-of-choice is an Emmons p/p, I choose to keep the sound as unaltered as possible:
Emmons into an Emmons volume pedal into an Evans SE-200 with the reverb somewhere between 0 and 3 depending on the situation. It don't get better'n dat!
Keep on pickin'!
