Sho-Bud Year Model

Post by Colby Tipton »

I just got a Sho-Bud from another forum member and I'm just guessing it is around a 1973 model. The serial number is 4106 and the model number is 6153. Anyone have an idea what year model this might be?

Come on, no takers. I guess I will have to start a thread that ask who or why you ever took up playing steel guitar. Will that get an answer from someone?

The serial and model # don't help much with a Sho~Bud. If you can post a picture of the guitar and the underside I think the experts could help you.

I think the experts have alredy had a crack at it, I think it came from Bobbe Seymours place and he should have a round about idea. I was just wandering.

These 2 pictures will give you an idea as to what I have. I think it used to have barrel cranks with the allen head tuners. You can see holes from the old mechanics in the picture of the underside. The way I understand is that Bobbe had the Sho-Bud factory install the new mechanics to the Pro III type. The pedals are the old style. I had a LDG back in the late 70s and it had the same kind of paint on the underside, I think it was a 74' model. Click the link for the pictures. http://usera.imagecave.com/colby_tipton/ShoBudProII/

Your right, I think a bunch of work may have been done on this Bud. Sure looks good though! May need Professor Seymour or Ricky Davis to give there take on this one. One or the other shoul be along any moment! Image

The "Mighty Ricky" is correct. Gene Haugh at the Sho-Bud assembally facillity in Magazine Arkansas did this update. This is a wonderful guitar as I remember.
Well worth the $400.00 paid for it!

Don't we get used to having everything "now." Request for info in the morning and a guy starts getting bit toey when responses haven't poured in by that afternoon. Sign of the times.
