Post by Tony Prior »

Happy Easter..

I have been burnin the candle lately and I fell across this ascending phrase and then followed it with a typical descending phrase.
Key of G
Here it is played over Rocky Top..Quick and dirty.

Do this instead of having dinner with your Brother in Law..

Sounds good, I use just about the same thing, if not for those licks I would be in trouble on lots of fast stuff. these type of scales are easy, you just have to work a bit to get them, if your not doing this type of thing - get this tab - & get started!!

Ernie, I hear ya. One of our primary gigs we are required to play the "Paul Jones" set which I guess most of us know are REAL friggin' fast...

Rocky Top, Rollin in my Sweet Baby' Arms, Columbus Stockade Blue, etc..Even a full Gospel tune set...any tunes that work together..at rapid meter...

And you are SOoooo right, playing these types of patterns makes it at least possible to jam on these tunes....along with playing the melody lines of course...

I'm still a novice at this stuff but someday when I grow up, if I ever do that is, I hope to do it better.

Hello Boys

Thanks so much Tony! Real valuable stuff!

I am curious to see if everyone is using pretty much the same fingering. Would some of you care to post how you execute that lick?

thanks, Dean

I have been playing mostly with thumb and first finger as primamry...

Don't know if it's right or wrong..

but it is comfortable for me...it feels natural.

The 2nd finger is used for the stretch/fill notes...

for me..that is..

I'm certain others may do it differently..
