What wood on late 70's MSA D10?

Post by Parr Bryan »

Hi All,
I have a late 70's MSA D10 that's not mica but a brownish grain (seen on bottom after small scrap) type of wood very similar to cherry. The top has a very thick-shiny black coating that does not let the grain show through. Pretty guitar. The MSA emblem is silk screen.
Anyone know what type of wood this is? The guitar has supersustain pickups.
Thanks for the help.
