Pedal-like sounds from lap steel

Post by Ray Montee (RIP) »

Carl Smith is singing a nice medley on the Jerry Byrd Fan Club site. It can be heard at http://www.jerrybyrdfanclub.com/jerrysMusic.htm
The second tune has a number of "bar affects" or left hand movements that closely sound like pedal steel. This likely is what keeps the controversy going about Jerry having played pedal steel at one time or an other.

This isn't a pedal steel topic, so I'm moving it to "No Peddlers".

I can play Tom Bumley's solo from 'Together Again' on the E13th lap steel. It sounds a little different, though, because the timbre of a bar slant with notes at different frets is different from the timbre of a straight-across bar on pedal steel.
