I'm going to try this again...

Years before knee levers, CC had this pedal - I think it was the last of about ten. Later, he could get the same with a "standard" pedal and a KL that made the changes on strings 2 and 3 (crossover ShoBud the first?)

There must be someone out there on the planet that knows how he used this. At any rate, it showed up on his earlier instruments.

I look at it and see a E/D poly chord. Maybe that is what it does. Jernigan used a D/C polychord at the end of "Streets of Laredo."

Buddy Emmons' C6th is pretty much the standard today: Image
If you use P5+LKL+RKL you have everything but Curly's low A string.

Yes, how are all those changes used at one time? I lower both A's as of now.

I wondered why Curly did some of the things he did on his earlier setups, such as having a pedal on the floor to lower the C to B and one next to it to do that plus lower the E to D. But, you know what? I would have known better than to ask him.

Early on, he had three consecutive pedals that lowered the high C to B (albeit there were other pulls on two of them) -

Similarly, he had two consecutive pedals that raised the high A to B , one of them additionally lowering the G to F# -
and he also had the G to F# change on two different pedals.

Keeping in mind that his earliest pedal guitar(s) had no knee levers to 'combine' with floorpedals, you can begin see reason for the duplicity.

A to Ab is the #5 of the One chord
But with P6 it makes it F going to Fminor.

C to B is the major 7 of the One chord
G to Gb is the flat 5th of the One Chord
and Maj7 of the V chord

But looking at this pedal from D, or the II note of C.

D root
F# 3rd
A 5th
C b7
is D7
plus E the 9th,
F# the 3rd above,

Now starting at E , or the 3rd note of C

E root
F# is 9th or 2nd,
G# maj3rd
B the 5th
E octave

And starting at F# or the #4th / b5th

F# root
A b3rd,
C b5th,
E b VII
dare I see a half diminished passing chord, nice before P7

So you get a
II D7,
III E,
#4 half dim
with one pedal.

I may be wrong it's very late now but...
