First String F# Lower to E?

Post by Gene H. Brown »

Has anyone tried lowering their 1st string F# to an E? There's a couple of nice licks you can get with this change, just wondering.
Thanks

Haven't tried that, but I have tried lowering the 7th string F# to E. That's a really nice change, but I haven't decided to make it permanent. I do raise the 2nd string up from D# to E though.

I've been thinking about this, too...pros, cons?

Not to an 'E', but Jimmy Day lowered his first string (F#) down a half-tone to an 'F'.
