TSGA Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Room Artists 2018

Post by Stephen Cowell »

Here's our (almost) final list of talent... Chuck Lettes and Gary Thorsen won't be able to attend. I'll do a separate thread with the schedule. Getting excited... see y'all there soon!

Billy Robinson
Carco Clave
Margie Mays
Ivan Reddington
Doug Jernigan
DMinor and Donna Bennett
Billy Easton
Murnel Babineaux with Joe Rogers and Richard Comeaux
Roger Edgington
Herb Steiner
Steve and Donna Palousek
Bob Blair and Olli Haavisto
Rose Sinclair
Mark Roeder
Chris Bauer

Looking forward to this year's Jamboree... come and join us upstairs if you're in Dallas, the show is free to attend. We do this every year in memory of Rick Alexander, a selfless avatar of the steel guitar and music in general.

I think Stephen would have the best idea since he knows what the expenses are........double digits for sure and a triple would be really helpful

Donations can be PayPal'd to me at scowell at sbcglobal dot net. Mark them as gifts to avoid the charges.

Looks like it's going to be a great show! Thanks to those that have already donated... very generous of you.

Bill, 20$ is what I suggest. Nobody should hurt themselves on this! If you don't do PP you can just give it to me at the show.

Richard Comeaux is joining Murnel and Joe... so we'll have the full Cajun Boys act, that will be nice.

Chuck Lettes had to cancel... sad about that. Hopefully he'll be able to make it next year.

We picked up Billy Easton... wonderful! I'd hoped he'd be able to make it, and he just confirmed.

Looking like a great show, folks... see you there.

Andy, glad you're coming... thanks for asking... it covers my expenses. I pay for my own room, I pay the backup musicians (100$/man/day), I buy the musicians breakfast at the buffet, I drive a pickup truck full of equipment I own from Austin. I provide the light show, PA with mics/stands etc, video cameras, etc. Every year I try to get more equipment to enhance the show... most of it doesn't get used for the rest of the year, it's still boxed up now.

TSGA covers the room and provides rooms for the musicians... I don't think I could do this without their help. If anyone would rather make a donation straight to TSGA I'd be pleased as punch... if you could make it in the name of the Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Room that would be the icing on the cake.

There is no admission to the RANP... we don't check wrist-bands at the door, anyone can come in and watch. There have been attempts to monetize it somehow... these attempts always had problems. The current situation seems to work best... I find that the folks that have run this before usually donate more... and I have a newfound respect for their efforts in the past.

Here's an example video from Chuck Lettes' show last year... unless the artists requests it, I publish the full two-days-worth of video on my YT channel... which is not monetized.

Post by Andy DePaule »

I was told they were full by two people already so I booked at the Quality Inn down the road a little way.
If there were still rooms left I wish I'd known.

Checked again.

Post by Andy DePaule »

I Checked again and there are no rooms at the hotel. The Quality Inn had rooms last week when I booked and looks on the map to be quite close. Maybe a 10 minute walk?
Last night there were still rooms there. The price was also not bad.
Good luck.

I'd absolutely love to. I'd love to jam with everyone. I'm getting better slowly but surely. So excited to definitely do that.
