I bought a CD from Jim Cohen several years ago." Finally Here ". Outstanding! I just ran across his site and I am really impressed with his sound and technique on the instrument.

I just downloaded this album, Home, James off of Jim's website. Man, what a great treat with all '60's tunes!
Thanks Jim, and as Roger said,
" I wanna play like Jim when I get older"!

I had the good fortune of seeing Jim play with a first-rate jazz trio at the University of NH a few weeks ago, in a recital organized by Dan Beller-McKenna, who is a professor of music there. Great selection of tunes and absolutely stellar playing all around! It was a real pleasure meeting Jim as well.

I first met Jim at the Steel convention in St. Louis years ago. He was in the corner playing some jazz that was incredible. I'm sure he doesnt remember me.

I remember asking him what he was doing in a certain tune and if it was primarily scales? { I knew nothing about Jazz which Im sure he gathered ..ha } He just smiled and said no.

Jim is a puzzling fellow. But yeah, pretty good picker.

I agree with Charlie, since lately he has puzzled me as well.

Aside from that, He is a great player, person and does indeed have acceptable tone.

I have been lucky to have him play at my town's summer Jazz fest for the past two years, check out his live performances on YouTube, they are first rate.
Regards, Craig

Wow, well, thank you all for those nice remarks!

And, Roger, there are at least two Jim Cohens. You have the distinction of having one of them reserved specifically for interacting with you... ;)
