how do you remove cross crank rods on a Derby?

Post by William Johnson »

anyone know to remove the cross crank rods on a Derby? i have removed the return spring near the pedal end, removed the key end plate and tried to push the crank rod to front and then to the rear as there is some lateral play, but stops before releasing from the front or rear aprons. maybe i need to push harder?

there is a nylon washer-spacer on the front apron end only. like i said there is some later movement from fron to rear, but stops short of releasing from the aprons. push harder?

surely the cross crank rods can be removed and added.

thanks,

Billy

Surely the "Crossbars" are spring loaded at one end; are they not??
That would be a smaller round piece that sticks out of the crossbar and goes into one side of the apron(maybe both) and has a spring under it. By pushing the crossbar one way or the other; your get a flat-head small screw driver in there and push the spring loaded rod back and out she comes.
I'm almost certain if you call Charlie; he will tell you how to do it and anything and everything you want to do with a Derby> he knows it all man.

i'll call Charlie again, also.

Billy
