A friend of mine asked me to add pedal steel to some tunes he recorded in California. We're in Oklahoma.

It seems he went out there and recorded a few tunes with the Buckaroos (Buck Owen's band) in a studio.

I got the master from the session and went to work on it. I'm needing ideas for the steel tracks. I have a "rough draft" of what I came up with but I'm sure there are some better ideas.

I haven't done a final mix or anything like that. Just added the steel track (with several mistakes). I also took the original vocal and turned it into a harmony part on the choruses and a few spots in the 2nd verse. That was a pretty cool trick I think.

Take a listen and tell me what you think. I feel like I need to do something different with the FX on the steel. I just ran straight from the guitar to tape and added compressor and reverb later. But it's still a little fat in the mix for my ears. The drums need some FX too.

I found a sound I like a little better now. Haven't uploaded the new file yet. Maybe in a week or 2.

First off i've only been playing for less than 3 years,but i have been writing songs and singing for 25,,what you did sounds good to me,,i also play verry little c6th,,but i could here a little 6th stuff on the chorus,,but like i said what you played sounds fine to my ears,,,

Hi Gary just listened to your recording sounds nice. I would be inclined to add more variation during the verse and more attack on the solo ie take it away from the sweet sound.I know what its like with recordings some times you find a song that brings out the best in you and some you have to dig for inspiration and tend to repeat a lick to much. I do this alot my self.Look foreward to hearing more.Dave Wisson

One thing I'd do is in the 4th phrase of the solo, take it up high and put some real tears in it. Think Hughey.
