Post by Joerg Schubert »

Hi,
who could help dating my MSA D-12 SuperSustain II Vintage XL? The serial number is 2C-6444.
Couldn't be every old, she's still such a beauty...
Thanks

Joerg....It's great to see those of you who take such pride in their instrument.

Serial number 2C-6444 shows to be a walnut color double 12 which left the factory with 8 pedals and 4 knee levers. It's original destination was Swicegood Music, location unknown.

In some instances the exact date of birth was not entered into record. That being the case with this serial number, I respectfully defer the time of production to my friend Donny Hinson who's knowledge of production times is mind boggling to me.

Gazing into my crystal ball Image , and perusing many scraps of nearly unintelligible paper, I come up with this guitar being produced in early April of '82.

Bringing this up, I always wondered who has my (1982 I think, that I bought new) MSA Vintage XL D12 with 10 pedals and 7 knee levers, red lacquer. It was a beauty and played just great.....al Image Image
