5mm tuning wrench

Post by Michael Holland »

Does everyone else with this type of guitar struggle along like I do with a socket from a wrench set? It's really hard to grabahold and turn that little bugger! Where can I get a 5mm tuning wrench for my guitar?

Xcelite brand, the same tuning nut driver that was supplied, at least in the past, with Emmons guitars, make a 5 mm nut driver,# P5 mm, about 31/2 inches long including handle to fit nicely in the pick bag. Try industrial tool suppliers in your area.

You might get some black anti-skid tape from the hardware store (typically used for steps), and cut a piece to size to wrap around the socket (makes for a good grip on that socket).
I have one like that that I like alot.

Hi Michael,

I will look for you in a hobby market in Holland, just send me your address by Email, 5 mm wrench is a normal size here in Holland.
I send you one for free; see it as an early Christmas present !

You can buy 5mm nut drivers at Sears, Lowe's, Home Depot or anyplace else that sells tools. You can get them in a complete set or as individual tools.

Michael,
You can also get a "T" handle type allen wrench, which is what I would reccomend. Look in the phone book for Grainger supply co. they carry the brand that has a rubber/vinyl handle that you can purchase individualy. Or go to http://www.mcmaster.com/
and type in 7041A45 and check out what they have to offer.

Michael, For a few dollars you can buy a deep well 5 mm socket. To make it easier to use I took two rubber rings from a little hanger that hold a six string guitar on the wall and slide them over the end. A little super glue on the inside of the washers and you have a nice little tuning wrench
