Check to see if it was bent forward from the stop also.
They are fine little steels, but if you are too ham thigh'd it can bend away just enough to not stop.
I know, I did it on a demo unit once.
But it bent right back no problem, and then I played lighter.
I have broken 3 levers or brackets on my Sho-Bud too,
so it ain't the Carter..

I figure this must definetely be a question for John Fabian, isn't it?
Try to rephrase your title line and have "Carter" in it somehow.

hello there,
I agree you should contact Carter for better info. I just checked my carter starter to look for the lever stops. In my model, there are 2 screws, uhm, screwed into the body (the roof, or the underside of the neck, horizontal to the floor) that work as stops for those levers. The other levers, which use a sort of pulley thingy to reverse the direction of the pull have a different type of stop. Maybe your screws fell out, or as someone mentioned, your lever is bent and missing the stop all together. Something like that happened to me once on my starter.
[This message was edited by Kiyoshi Osawa on 05 May 2005 at 09:59 AM.]
