Age of Emmons p/p

Post by Kenny Forbess »

Need help identifying build date(year) of an S-10 Emmons.
As new, it came with 3 & 3,

Body is drilled and pedalboard is fit for 10 pedals, from the factory.

Has the longer slim-type original p/p pedals, with the numbers 5095 on the bottom.

Has Kluson Deluxe butterfly key's.
the ser # is 1517-S,
the p/up has 1 black stripe between the whites.
And the body is black mica.

This guitar was bought in the 70's according to the seller to be, (an elderly widowed lady),and she doesn't remember the year.

The husband played Island music only, and never used the changer, or levers.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Kenny

Sounds like mid 70's, but you could check the
date code on the tone pot to narrow it down.

The pot looks like it's actually from the early
70's, but that's not uncommon. With those
pedals & butterfly tuners, you're definitely
around the mid 70's or so. I think in '78
they switched over to the LeGrande style pedals.

Jay,
Thank's so much,
I was thinking it might have been about 75 or so, I have a friend that has one with the same pedals and key's, and his is a 75.

BTW, I forgot to mention, it is a cut-back,
if that makes a difference.
Thanks,
Kenny

Jay, Kenny,

I have a D10 p/p with keystone (butterfly) Klusons, cut back apron and LeGrande style pedals. The S/N is 2411D which I extrapolate to being about December '77. Ricky has pictures of it at his "House of Wood" site. Look for the guitar titled "Glenn's 77"

Keep on pickin'!
