Anybody plays a P/P with TT pick-ups?

Instruments, mechanical issues, copedents, techniques, etc.

Hi Ron, I had Jerry rewind the original pickups on my 75 pp. The pickups were wound to 17.5 and the sound of the guitar improved dramatically.

I replaced the stock single-coil pickup on my 12-string Emmons push/pull with a Truetone wound to 18.5 K. To be completely honest, I don't notice much difference. The stock pickup was a very good single coil pickup from the '80s.

Count me in on that one, I put 16k's on my PP and am very happy, I will NOT go back.

I replaced the stock Emmons pick-up on my PP 12 string with a True Tone wound to 19.5. Jerry said a 12 string would need the 19.5 to be comparable to a 10 string wound to 18.5. There was not much difference in the sound except on the high end. Strings 3 and 5 have an improved sound. I am happy with the True Tone but there wasn't any dramatic improvement in the sound over the old Emmons single coil that came in the guitar.

I have 17.5 TTs in my 66 Bolt-on. Love them, sound great but I did a weekend 3 concert gig a month ago in a hall where the earthing had been done by Walt Disney Productions, ie. Mickey Mouse. Awful noise through the amp at best, and absolutely hideous once the light man used any dimmers. Same for the guitarist playing a Tele. I just could not play properly. I could barely open my volume pedal for the deafening roar. I was so embarrassed. Unfortunately the concert was recorded and I have the DVD of it and it is not good. If I am asked to do this gig again next year, I will take #2 Steel which has E66 p/up.
