Here's another one for the books, when it comes to steels on Ebay! Interesting, to say the least.

Even the pedals look like they are made from wood. The bid is only around $101.00 at the time I'm posting this...one of you guys oughta go for it. Farris, just don't get it TOO CLOSE to the fireplace...after all, it is made of wood! Image

It's an all-wood Maverick!

It looks to me like the legs are maple and the cabinet some kind of walnut. Whatever it is, it's some pretty nice woodwork.

About ten years ago, legendary San Antonio steel player/builder Jerry Blanton came up to me at a Johnny Bush gig in Bandera TX. Jerry, a monster player and builder, is well known as an occasionally eccentric Image genius, and he was telling me about a guitar he was about to build, one entirely of oak.

When I asked about the machining of the changer and undercarriage, I found out that his plan was for the entire guitar,... undercarriage, bellcranks, rods (dowels), changer, what-have-you,... to be made of oak. We never discussed the legs. Image

Now, if he could carve it out of a solid block of wood, I might consider switching from my old Emmons guitars. Image

David Parker in Dallas has made several very nice all wood steels. S10s and D10s. David glues them up and then cuts the whole thing out on his cnc including tuning key head and roller/axle support. I have an S10 non pedal he made that way and even has a beautiful fret board that is illuminated from underneath such that the frets and markers glow.

I would guess that the metal hardware - keyhead, changer, undercarriage - come from a MarketRite Mark I guitar. In the seventies, MarketRite sold a Maverick clone in kit form for $ 149.00.

Looks like there are no pedal stops - the floor must be the stop!

Beware of unlevel floors!

After having seen here and especially on e-bay some horror home made jobs and butchering mods (even by some selfproclaimed "pros" who whould have known better) I think this one deserves some nice comments.
It may not be perfect but it's very clean in many aspects and obviously build with a lot of love to detail and quality craftmanship and I think that besides the lack of pedal stops (it may just stop at the changer), it may be an absolutely playable student guitar and project easily equal to a Maverrick.

Who ever built it should be comended for the job.

Just my opinion... J-D.
