Best Pickup for a Magnum SD10

Post by Ron Spears »

Found a Magmum SD10 that needed some serious rod rerouting and playability issues. I have it all straightened out. I'm not real happy with the sound of the stock pickup. Anybody have a suggestion of what I should replace it with.

Seem to recall reading that the same pickup was used in the Carter Starter as well..A Wallace Truetone wound to around 18K should be a worth while upgrade.

I like a Bill Lawrence XR-16 in my Carter.

Alumitone is one good choice.

I had 4 Carters and I would suggest either a 710 or an XR-16

I've also tried a truetone but the hum was really bad and an E66 and it was too harsh and thin for me.
Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night.

710 is my favorite humbucker but my Magnum sounds very good with Alumitones. It stays at Church.
