4._A___Ab_______Bb___B___________B
5._G_____________________F#
6._E________F _______________Eb
7._C_________________________________C#

That change gives you a nice IV7 Drew.
[This message was edited by Bob Knight on 24 December 2004 at 12:38 PM.]

It is a reverse Pedal 6.

I just added the change on RKR 2 after trying it on a Fessendedn at ISGC.

Me thinks it's a IV7 (good blues chord) in the root pos., a V7 2 frets up (actually V7(9)

I often use it to get a major chord (F on the open strings) in the low register. The C6 isn't just for jazz, you know! Image

Also, you have the full step moving tone effect if you release it as you press P6, or vice versa.

Bob's thing works good for me too.

If you can do your LKV and LKR at the same time, you get a nice Dom7 sus 4 chord too,

Another way to see that pedal melodically is similar to pedal 6, but with a different melody note on top of each chord inversion. Doug Jernigan and John Hughey use it a LOT and very effectively. Check out the chord melody head to John's "home in San Antone", for a great example.
