Rains Steel Guitars
Several steel player friends and I spent about three hours yesterday playing and listening to Gary Carpenter's new Rains Steel Guitar. Although a loyal Zum and Emmons P/P player, I was impressed by the Rains 'sound' ... very good sustain and string separation/defintion even up high in the 'John Hughey/Dickie Overby' land!
Congratulations to Bob Rains for building a great sounding and playing steel guitar. Their website is http://rainssteelguitars.com
By the way, for steel players who are not familiar with Gary Carpenter's steel playing, you need to buy his CD... the guy is a monster player!!

I've got a new Rains on order. I talked to Bob Rains a couple of days ago and he said it should be ready in two or three weeks. Bob was kind enough to let me "try out" his personal guitar for a couple of months while he didn't have any playing jobs. I can say this, I've been playing for 53 years and have played a lot of different brands of guitars, and in my opinion, the Rains is the best sounding, best built guitar I've ever played. The fit and finish is just immaculate. I can hardly wait to get mine.
