Changing strings - GRRRRRRRR!

Post by Roger Rettig »

Having just renewed all twenty, I'm reflecting on just how much I hate this chore!!!!

When I was last at Emmons, Ron Jr. was using a power-drill with a string-winding 'bit' attached - was this his own ingenuity, or can you get these wondrous objects anywhere?

Scotty's sells them also. I have one for my electric screw driver to ease the task.

Good money spent...

Ricky- I'm glad you said "electric" screwdriver. One time I used the term "cordless" screwdriver and my wife said, "Aren't most screwdrivers cordless?"

I had a "hand" stringwinder,& cut off the handle, got a 1/4 inch socket wrench adapter, some epoxy cement,& made my own. That,w/ the electric screwdriver, fit very nicely in my seat. One last tip,be sure to remember to keep the screwdriver charged up. I didn't,one time, Image & I think I invented some new cuss words.

I got my Turbo Tuner at Guitar Center for $7.95. They list at about $19.95. Works great and speeds up changing strings about 1000 percent using a re-chargeable screwdriver. On my Emmons Butterfly tuners I had to take a knife and whittle the tuner out a little bit. Then I got an "O" ring from Home Depot and snapped around it like a rubber band. These changes would only be necessary on odd sized keys like the butterflys.
[This message was edited by George Kimery on 15 August 2004 at 01:34 PM.]
