::RECOVERED::!!! Rittenberry S12

Post by Mickey Adams »

On Saturday night, I left the Sheraton DFW with 2 vehicles loaded with
gear, going 2 different directions, and a third vehicle with my personal Mullen rig. Having been very busy for the last 3 weeks, I did not take inventory until this week.
My Rittenberry 12 string has vanished.
It was not left at the hotel, and it is not at any of the 3 locations that I have been bouncing between... I am
Offering an unspecified reward, for any information leading to its recovery.
I WANT THIS BACK...Ill make it worth your while to rat on your brother if he has it...

Police report?

Post by Dale Foreman »

Mickey
Did you file a police report? Don't know if it would help but you may want to call pawn shops as well! I know how you feel, I had a 53 Tele stolen from me!

I dont know WHERE it was taken...Thats the issue with a police report..With that in mind...I learned this the hard way..Several years ago a VERY expensive Roman Guitar was stolen from BillyBobs TX, and I filed a police report, and kept the report number in my iphone. When it showed up in Ada OK 3 years later in a pawn shop....The report was useless...The authorities would NOT DO ANYTHING, and I had to BUY my own guitar back...in other words...The politicians in OK decided that if you could make it into their state with stolen goods from TX, they will protect the pawn shop from you, the legal owner. Even though they are proven stolen, the NEW OWNER is entitled to sell the merchandise anyway.. .....TX will not pursue you because the OK authorities will not cooperate at all...

First off, my condolences. I will keep my eyes and ears open for you.

But to be clear, you're not sure if the guitar was with Cindy or JR, or was it misplaced during loadout and taken then? Or was it with you?
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Further to what Herb said, Mickey, any chance it got swiped during loadout and that the Sheraton might have surveillance video of the area where the cars were being loaded?

We are such a small community, it's sad to think that one of our fellow players would steal a guitar from another of us.

This is a betrayal of the brother and sisterhood that unites us. Whoever did this deserves to be banned from all steel guitar shows forever.

I hope you get the guitar back.

Herb, I have checked all 3 locations from top to bottom...We are a little unclear as to which vehicle it was "supposed" to be in..(I brought SO Much gear this year)......Nothing else is missing, just this one instrument....And I have NO idea where, or when this occurred. All I Know is it did not make it back with us....

One way we can all help Mickey is - no matter where in the US you live - keep an eye on Craigslist for this instrument. A true steel player hopefully would not stoop that low, and also would know it's going to be something he can't show anybody else.

So if it's a crook looking for a quick buck, either they will CL it, or sell it cheap to somebody else who may try to list it.

Keep our eyes open and hey - you never know!

Stolen Rittenberry

Post by Dale Foreman »

I used Searchtempest to search all Craigslist sites tonight and no luck but I will continue to search. I tried searching pawn shops that show inventory but not many do!

So sorry, Mickey. I understand the confusion of a plethora of gear that makes it hard to close in on departure time. Hoping that more information and sharp eyes bring it back to you.

Very sorry to hear of this Mickey. I lost a Sho-Bud Pro II years ago that was still like new such as your guitar. There is nothing any worst than a low life thief. Their day will come I hope. And it is just not Oklahoma that has the law that you are reference to. I live here and have had the same thing and had to buy my own stuff back. Other states have the same thing. Politicians make these laws due to being a friend to pawn shop owners or being paid big bucks one way or the other. Their are no ethics anymore, how sad. I wish you the best on finding your guitar and I will for sure keep my eyes open. I am only like 200 miles NE of Dallas and 25 miles from Ft.Smith, Ark. J.R. Rose
NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose

Most likely this was in its case when it wandered off. If you happen to have one, you might want to post a picture of that as well - especially if there were any identifying stickers or stenciling on it. It might jog someone's memory.

Yeh, Mickey, sorry that happened to you. Here's hoping that it may be in some else's equip that they picked up by mistake and just haven't discovered it yet. Same thing happened to me a fiddle contest years ago. After a month, I got my fiddle back. Was nothing but an accident. That was before email and internet so I was real lucky. Sure hope that's maybe what has happened. I would trace back where it was last and go from there.

1) "On Saturday night, I left the Sheraton DFW...... Having been very busy for the last 3 weeks"

I'm assuming that this was NOT Saturday April 9, 2016 (the most recent Saturday relative to the initial post). It sounds like it was around the time of the TSGA show.

2) And not that there are many like this floating around, but is there a serial number?

This sucks

. Let's also keep an eye out for a " no name " steel. Someone may try to cover or re-finish this axe just enough to think they are avoiding detection. A national ebay or craigslist search without the Ritt name may pop up somewhere.

I'd love to find this guitar for Mickey.

Hopefully it turns up soon - worst case scenario is that the thief will part it out. :(

Keeping an eye on searchtempest/ebay for it to show up. No pawn shops in my neck of the woods...
