Emmons Guitar Help
Can anyone help me about any differences in 70's models P/P versus 80's models P/P? Are there any differences in tonal qualities, mechanics, playability, etc.etc.etc? Thanks

Hi Dale,
I cannot tell you much about 80`s P/P`s as I have never owned one, mine have been early 70`s But what I can advise you is get somone who really knows about P/Pulls to set it up for you. I go to Tommy Cass in MA, tho its 3000 miles for me! The guitar fits like a glove, the pedal action smoothe as silk, and the knee levers exactly where I want them, this has helped my playing quite a lot! Any Emmons fitted with true tone pick-ups and properly set up has got "that sound" in there
waiting to come out.(in my opinion)
Good Luck, John

Dale,
The main differences of the mid to late '70's from the '80's Emmons are, the '70's had cast pedals and kluson tuning keys, and the ones from the '80's had the extruded pedals and sperzel keys. You can't go wrong with either decade.

The mention of TT pickups in an Emmons PP has my curiosity. I have a 74 SD-12 PP with the original Emmons single coil pickup. I like the sound, so I guess if it's not broken, don't fix it. HOWEVER....I am interested if anybody has noticed better string separation on an Emmons PP by installing a TT pickup and if so, how many ohms was the pickup you installed.

George, My "Blondie" is 1970 and it had a beautiful sound before I messed with it, but I thought "what the hell ,I can always put the original pick ups back on,and tho the sound was good, I thought a little thin more like a Sho-bud, but very clean.
When I put the TT`s on WOW!!!Fat sound and beautiful tone + loads more gain then the old ones.
I will definately not be changing back!!!
