Clip-on ferrite beads for taming the wild USB-cord?

Post by David Mason »

This is a follow-up to this Q: about (possible) USB cord noise:
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=286629

It's plain as day that when I unplug the USB cords of a few well-thought-of pre-amps the noise goes way down; this is not conclusive, it can still obviously be the device, but the little ferrite add-on beads are only a few bucks anyway. So before I dive into the jungle I'm wondering if there are any specifications I need to account for besides "about 11/64 inchs" before I dive in, also armed with a ground-lifting de-hummer.

Dave,
Can you post an mp3, a few seconds of the noise for all to hear?
