LeGrande ?
I have a half-tone raise on first string, and a whole-tone lower with a tunable split on sixth string both on the same knee lever. I am thinking of changing the first string to a whole tone raise, and would like info on lthe best option:
1. Move the pull rod down in the finger and to a lower hole in the bell crank for more travel.
2. Adjust lever stop screw for more lever travel, then re-adjust the lower and split.
3. Forget it and use the half-tone with a slant bar.
Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks guys.

Johnny
1. Move the pull rod UP in the finger and to a HIGHER hole in the bell crank for more travel. Middle hole in the finger is fine for most guitars.
2. MAYBE Adjust lever stop screw for more lever travel, then re-adjust the lower and split.
3. Forget it and use the half-tone with a slant bar. Not a bad idea either

Johnny, I have a Legrande and made that change. Heres what I did...
Move the rod at the bell-crank to the hole farthest from the body of the guitar and farthest from the mechanism...

This worked well for me. Please shoot me an email if you have further questions.

Steve, I don't know about the four holers, but if know one answers your question, contact Mr. Bobbe Seymour at www.steelguitar.net. He will probably tell you to do the same as my last post and then if that doesn't work to move the stop, but don't let me put words into his mouth. Give him a shout.

Bobby is correct.
1. At the changer, the closer to the axle the more travel.
2. At the bellcrank, the closer to the axle the less travel.
3. At the pedal, the closer the pull rod is to the axle, the greater the travel of the pedal for a given travel of the changer pull rod.
This is difficult if not impossible to "see" by some; who are not very mechanically inclined. However it is the way Jesus made some of us, and it's quite normal.

Steve's an old pro so he's just pulling our leg.<SMALL>I just bought one with 4-hole bell cranks...is the method for changing to a whole-tone raise the same?</SMALL>

Johnny, I've got a Legrande II with four changes on the LL lever- 1st string F#-G# Bellcrank 14 to changer 1, 2nd String D#-E BC7 to Chngr2, 6th string G#-F# BC9 to Chngr5, C6 4th string A-Bb BC11 to Chngr 1 (all counting from guitar body down, playing postiion). The pull is actually fairly short and very smooth and comfortable.

Thank you all for your response. I am going to give the change a try. If it doesn't feel good, then I'll go back and do it Lloyds' way. By the way, are any of you using a half stop on this lever, or would a reverse slant be more precise? It seems that I have a hard time feeling half stops with any degree of precision.
