HDMI Question

Post by Richard Sinkler »

Today I decided to use the HDMI out from my laptop to the external monitor I use with it. The VGA connector in the laptop didn't have female screw receptacles to hold the VGA cable, and it would fall out if I wasn't careful.

I notice no difference in the display quality. Should I?

Normally, no difference. However, if you didn't notice, when you use HDMI Windows automatically switches the sound to the HDMI, not the internal PC speakers. If you want to use the PC speakers you have to change the default audio playback device back to the "Speakers" (PC sound chip).

Didn't notice the sound thing as I rarely use the sound on the laptop. But, now that you mention it, I did think it was wierd I didn't hear that little fanfare type sound when Windows first boots up. I've been thinking of using a long cord from the laptop to the speakers I have on my desktop. Maybe it,s time to do that. I actually have an extension cable coming from the speaker system with a female end. I can plug either the speaker system, or headphones. I just need to run another cable from my laptop.

Thanks for the info.
